Severus Tenenbaum born 1984 grew up in a small town in northern Sweden and the only thing she found both passion and peace in was taking pictures. No matter what anyone else said about her having to get “a real job” she just kept shooting portraits and stories with what she could get her hands on.

Modernista got their eyes on her work and some of it is now being published in two photo books called “Suspended / Emotions” with foreword by Bodil Malmsten who’s said she feels related to Severus work which was fantastic because Bodil is one of Severus idols.

Sev shoots with whatever, whenever. Both film and digital and takes tons of images every day no matter what for with her 12 cameras which none cost a fortune. Autodidact in everything she does, an agoraphobia recoverer who wants to overcome all her fears and a Bruce Springsteen fanatic.

Severus is not looking for the “perfect” picture because for her an image is about a feeling. Photography is passion and play no matter if she shoots a famous rock star or an old woman in a little village.

Severus has worked with some of Swedens biggest artists 2008, her images have and can be seen on record covers, all over cities, on front pages and -inside- the papers as well duh.
